Ford Signature Series pairs Urban Bush Women
with CONTRA-TIEMPO for a one-of-a-kind dance experience

 

WHAT:
Ford Signature Series: Urban Bush Women and CONTRA-TIEMPO — The Ford Signature Series pairs Brooklyn, New York-based dance company Urban Bush Women with Los Angeles-based urban Latin dance theater company CONTRA-TIEMPO for a one-of-a-kind evening of dance under the stars. UBW performs the West Coast premiere of their newest work, Walking with ‘Trane, inspired by the musical life and spiritual journey of innovative jazz great John Coltrane. Featuring experimental movement and an original soundscape, Walking with ‘Trane is conceived of as an album, offering a Side A (with guest DJ) and Side B (with live pianist). CONTRA-TIEMPO gets the evening started with She Who: Frida, Mami & Me, a new work inspired by the life and mythology of Frida Kahlo and Nigerian deity Mami Wata. Former UBW company member Mariani Forté choreographs.

PARKING:
Parking at the Ford is stacked and costs $5-$10 per vehicle for evening performances. New off-site parking location: a FREE shuttle services the parking structure located at 1710 N. Cherokee Avenue in Hollywood. Parking is $10 for Ford patrons. Shuttle departures begin two hours before show time and reservations are required. Metro riders: a FREE shuttle picks up from the Universal City/Studio City Metro Station (3913 Lankershim Blvd, Studio City 91604). The shuttle, which cycles every 20 minutes, stops in the “kiss and ride” area.

• The Ford Signature Series pairs world renowned performers with Los Angeles County artists for one-of-a-kind experiences. The program is made possible through the generous support of Los Angeles County Supervisor Sheila Kuehl. Proceeds from the Signature Series benefit the Ford Theatre Foundation, which supports programs at the Ford Theatres in Hollywood and throughout Los Angeles County.
