Latino Theater Company brings Spanish performance
artist Marta Carrasco to L.A. in ‘Perra de Nadie’ 

WHAT:
Latino Theater Company presents Spanish dancer, choreographer and performance artist Marta Carrasco in Perra de Nadie. In the deepest part of everyone, where the underworld of vulnerability, madness, tenderness and fragility exist, lives Lili and her night watchmen, and her endearing vastness blooms. Marta Carrasco’s highly original creations are characterized by an expressionist and grotesque aesthetic and are performed without dialogue. The topics she deals with illuminate the darkness and imperfection of humanity.

“Someone may have noticed, and rightly so, that the dog is one of the first domestic animals, which was very useful for hunting, But a bitch, if it belongs to no one, is good for nothing, or for anyone. Well, they do exist, yes! What’s more, they are essential in their uselessness… There, in the depths of each one of you, in that underworld of vulnerability, madness, tenderness and pure fragility, live Lili and her night watchmen.”

Marta Carrasco is a celebrated Catalan artist who moves between theater, dance and the visual arts as a performer, dancer, choreographer and director. After being a member of several companies (including Ramon Oller’s “Metros,” where she spent five years), Carrasco formed her own company in 1995. Aguardient (her first solo) was a resounding success that earned her several awards. It was followed by a series of shows located on the border of theater, dance, visual arts and music that are part of Carrasco’s singular creative approach, which often opts for an expressionist aesthetic: Blanc d’ombra, Mira’m, Eternal? Això yes no! , Ga-gà, J´arrive…!, Bin & Go, Dies Irae, B.Flowers, Perra de Nadie and Jo, Dona. A Lili Elbe. She has also collaborated as a choreographer or movement director in multiple stagings of dramatic texts and shows, as well as on several films. She has been awarded the National Dance Prize of Catalonia, the Critics’ Prize, the City of Barcelona Prize and several Max Awards.
